Artimplant’s Artelon® CMC Spacer allows many people suffering from thumb base osteoarthritis to be treated at an early stage of the disease.
Artelon® CMC Spacer separates and stabilizes the joint and is tissue-preserving. The trapezial bone will not be removed, and the anatomy of the hand is thus kept intact. This avoids shortening or permanently immobilizing the thumb. Surgery is usually performed under a local anesthetic.
Five-year results from a study on patients treated with Artelon® CMC Spacer show improved thumb function; stable CMC-joint, improved grip strength and experienced pain relief.
For treatment of thumb base osteoarthritis at a early stage, when instability of the thumb is minimal, the Artelon® CMC Spacer Arthro is an excellent alternative. This implant offers the same features as Artelon® CMC Spacer but is put in place through arthroscopic surgery.
Artelon® CMC Spacer and Artelon® CMC Spacer Arthro are CE-marked and FDA-cleared.
